Meet Jai
Klangjai S. Tawornpichayachai
Mum & Mentor | Education Development Consultant | EdTech Strategy Coach | Team & Culture Builder
Engineer by training, educator by choice, I'm now supporting King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in an advisory role after years of building its digital learning backbone. I have helped design LEB2, the outcome‑based platform that underpins most KMUTT courses LEB2, and co‑founded 4LifelongLearning.org, Thailand’s first end‑to‑end micro‑credential ecosystem 4lifelonglearning. My early years as the founding director of the Education Technology Development & Service Integration (ETS) office taught me that real change happens when policy, people, and simple tools line up—less fanfare, more follow‑through.
Outside work, I'm also busy mum to a curious, creative 12-year-old girl who keeps me grounded and inspired. You’ll also find me refining dark‑chocolate recipes or mentoring young leaders—quiet reminders that learning should expand choices and taste a little sweet along the way.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT, ETS ADVISOR
Independent Consultant
June 2025 - Current
I work with universities and public-sector teams to help make learning more meaningful and responsive to the needs of today’s learners. My role is often behind the scenes—supporting the design of education strategies, modular learning models, and digital systems that turn good ideas into something real and workable.
Much of my work focuses on areas like micro-credential development, competency-based education, and lifelong learning frameworks, especially where policy needs to connect with practice. I also contribute to teacher training, assessment design, and education technology planning, always with the goal of making things simpler, more coherent, and more useful for educators and learners.
HRD CONSULTANT, A GOOD UNIVERSITY MODEL FOR COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT
DTGO, Thailand
Mar 2019 - Aug 2020
As part of a collaboration with one of Thailand’s leading human resource development firms, I had the opportunity to contribute to a project that aimed to redefine how professional growth and workplace learning could be embedded into a large, forward-thinking organisation. For this initiative, I introduced a conceptual framework I developed called the “Good University Model”—a strategic approach designed to foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and purposeful development within the corporate environment.
The model was grounded in principles drawn from higher education, adapted to suit the dynamics of a corporate setting. It highlighted the importance of self-directed learning, competency-based progression, collaborative environments, and values-driven culture. The organisation’s vision was to create a new learning campus—a physical and cultural space where employees could connect, explore ideas, and grow both personally and professionally. The Good University Model became the foundation for shaping the competency development strategy and guiding the design of learning pathways within this new campus.
My role involved more than just introducing the model—I facilitated discussions with senior leaders, helped the HR team translate theory into practice, and supported the design of learning journeys aligned with both organisational goals and individual development needs. I also worked closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the model could be embedded into day-to-day work, not just exist as a vision or policy.
This project gave me valuable insight into how corporate HRD can benefit from educational thinking, and how organisations can create environments that support people not only in doing their jobs, but in growing through them. It reinforced my belief that when learning is thoughtfully integrated into the culture, it becomes a powerful driver of both performance and purpose.
PROJECT LEADER, MICRO CREDENTIAL PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT
KMUTT, Thailand
Dec 2018 - May 2025
I led the development of the theoretical framework and technology infrastructure for KMUTT’s micro-credential system—laying the foundation for how modular learning, competency recognition, and digital credentials could be meaningfully implemented within the university’s ecosystem.
This work involved close collaboration with vice presidents and directors for educational development, where I provided both strategic leadership and technical direction to guide the overall vision. Together, we explored how to integrate educational technology, instructional design principles, and policy frameworks into a cohesive system that supports both learners and educators.
My role included translating high-level goals into practical models and workflows, aligning the system with competency-based education principles, and ensuring that the tools we developed were flexible, scalable, and aligned with Thailand’s broader movement toward lifelong learning.

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE INTEGRATION, ETS
KMUTT, Thailand
June 2012 - Jan 2024
I directed, managed, and oversaw the overall operations of KMUTT’s Educational Technology Development and Service (ETS) unit, ensuring the delivery of first-class support services and pedagogical technology consultations that directly enhance teaching and learning across the university.
My role included setting the strategic direction for the unit while also managing day-to-day operations—developing service models, monitoring performance, and ensuring our solutions met the evolving needs of educators, learners, and academic leaders. We provided hands-on support for technology-enhanced learning, outcome-based education, digital platforms, and faculty development in line with KMUTT’s vision for educational transformation.
A major focus of my leadership was designing and nurturing a high-performing, deeply committed team culture. I built an environment rooted in Freedom and Responsibility, where team members were trusted to own their work, contribute ideas, and grow both individually and collectively. This culture supported creative problem-solving, collaboration, and personal accountability, leading to consistently high levels of performance and satisfaction.
I also led the design of a new human resource approach tailored to the unique needs of an agile, innovation-focused education support unit. This included new processes for recruitment, performance management, team development, and recognition, with the goal of encouraging high-quality outcomes while sustaining long-term team engagement and well-being.
To adapt to changing work environments, I transitioned ETS into a remote-capable agile team, implementing flexible workflows, sprint-based planning, and digital collaboration tools. This shift allowed us to work effectively across locations while maintaining team cohesion, responsiveness, and a strong sense of shared purpose.
Through this work, ETS became more than a service unit—it became a model for how education support teams can operate with both excellence and heart, aligned with KMUTT’s mission to create impactful, learner-centered innovation.
PROJECT MANAGER/PRODUCT OWNER, KMUTT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
ETS, KMUTT
June 2011 - Jan 2024
I managed the KMUTT Learning Environment (LE) software development projects, overseeing a portfolio of interrelated initiatives that supported the university’s long-term vision for technology-enhanced education. This included leading all project phases—initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure—while ensuring alignment with institutional strategies and academic priorities.
Working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders—including educators, instructional designers, system users, and university executives—I helped define project scopes and translate complex educational needs into meaningful software solutions. These solutions were designed to support outcome-based education, ensure learning outcomes, and enhance the overall learning experience for both students and teachers.
A key aspect of my role was leading the software development team using Agile project management principles. I facilitated sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog prioritisation, reviews, and retrospectives to foster an adaptive and iterative development process. This approach enabled us to quickly respond to feedback, maintain high product quality, and consistently deliver value to users throughout the development cycle.
Beyond managing timelines and deliverables, I also helped guide the technical direction and system design, ensuring effective integration with KMUTT’s core learning platforms and supporting infrastructure. This included decisions around usability, scalability, and interoperability, so that the software we built could evolve with the needs of the institution and the broader education ecosystem.
Through this work, we delivered not just functional tools, but learning technologies grounded in purpose—tools that help educators teach more effectively, students engage more deeply, and the university measure learning outcomes more meaningfully.
